"There are none so scorned by the public and by the gods as Tieflings. This may offend my readers, but understand that I approach these encounters with an open mind and attempt to learn the culture of the various races of Mytkora. They are the ones who have suffered much more than we, the fragile majority. They were human once, but Pesata cursed them as she cursed us all. I have met many across my travels, and though they were suspicious of me at first, the conversations with them proved that they are no different from the rest of us. I urge you all, dear readers, reconsider your prejudices." - An excerpt from "The Travels of Hafrick Moriarty"
Tieflings were created by Pesata when she cursed all races of Mytkora into mortality. They were once human, but the dark magic of the Nel twisted and deformed them into the race they are now. They are almost universally scorned, as the rest of mortalkind has a physical group of people they can direct their blame to for their curse. Despite this, Tieflings remain integrated with society and can be found in almost any major city.
The Devil in the Details
Tieflings share a similar build with Humans, as they were derived from the race. They stand between 5 and a few inches over 6 feet tall and weigh between 140-180 pounds on average. They have a wide range of skin tones that reflect their origins, ranging from black to blue to red to white and all colors in between. They generally have two horns that sprout from their foreheads. These horns can curl or stick straight out, varying from Tiefling to Tiefling. They also have long tails that can act as an extra appendage for them.
Loved By Few
Tieflings are looked upon in disgust by a vast majority of other races. They see them as a vile combination of dark magic and pure Humans, and will openly scorn them in most places. Because of this, Tieflings tend to find solitary residences in the wilderness or live in packed underbellies of many major cities. Many turn to crime, adding to the stained reputation. Rarely, a tiefling may find themselves in a position of respect among small towns where the people are more welcoming.
A Legacy of Darkness
Pesata abandoned the Tieflings immediately after their creation. Many Tieflings believe this to be a fear of looking hypocritical, as she believed the creation of mortals to be a heinous act of the gods overstepping, although none can be sure. Most Tieflings blaspheme her name and turn from her entirely, while others seek answers from the void. Since The Silence, there are even fewer who seek after her as Tieflings have begun turning their efforts towards clearing their name in the Prime Material.
