"As I contemplated Oren's sanity, the mechanical figure's eyes lit up in a bright blue light and he stepped forward. He introduced himself as Bolts--Oren's choice, not his own--and offered me a cup of tea. I was astounded. Here before me was a physical, sentient being made of nothing but metal and steam. Oren explained to me how these 'people' were to serve many purposes, including mass-producing more of their kin. It took him just twenty years to do it. Twenty years to capture the power of the gods." - An excerpt from "The Travels of Hafrick Moriarty"
Warforged were created by Gnomes some thirty years after the The Silence. They are the only race in Mytkora that are not either directly created by or descendants of the creations of the Sleeping Gods. They were designed for many purposes, intended to be synthetic humanoids as diverse and talented as Mytkora itself. They are often found in Tekoril, where they were created, but some have been sent overseas to Atheles and Isatis. The largest population, however, lives in the island nation of Eros.
Heavy Metal
Warforged are of about the same physical size as Humans, but weigh much more. They average around 6 feet tall and 300 pounds. Their outer "skin" is generally bronze, iron, or steel. Warforged tend to alter their appearances after creation to fit with their personalities and occupations. For example, a sailor might paint their exoskeleton in sea tones.
Artificial Intelligence
Warforged have as much sapience as any other race in Mytkora. They each develop their own personalities, often entirely independent of their creators. Their individuality was unexpected, and their capability to feel emotions and generate original thoughts led to high tensions between them and their masters.
Robotic Revolution
About twenty years after their creation, two primary factories were constructed to make Warforged to supplement the standing army of Tekoril. These plants were run by Warforged, who worked all hours of the day to construct more of themselves. The robotic race slowly developed its own culture and began growing uneasy with their social standing. Practically slaves, the Warforged noticed they were treated unlike any other race in Mytkora. After some time, they staged a revolt that forever changed the way they were viewed by the rest of the world. Now considered as alive and real as Humans or Elves, the Warforged are seeking to leave their own mark on the world.
