What is canonization?
Canonization takes your character beyond your own table and enters them into the Radiant Realm Universe at large. It allows you to officially leave your mark in the world where anyone can see it well beyond your own party. Your character will have an article created on the Myzelis World Anvil. We currently have two canonization options: Simple Canonization
● Available for free for any played characters of level 11+
● Also available for free for any played characters of any level whose games have concluded or are on extended hiatus
● A brief summary of your character's observable features and known associations
● Can include an image, but you must have permission to use it for this purpose if it is not your own artwork, and may not be AI-generated
● Simple Canonizations are submitted through this form Full Canonization
● Available for $20 for a played character of any level
● Fully detailed biography
● Can be done at any time, including upgrading an Simple Canonization with a major update
● The process described below! How do I request a Full Canonization for my character?
You will need to schedule a time with your GM (or another member of the GM team if the GM you played this character with is not currently an active member) by messaging them in the Radiant Realm Discord. How much does it cost?
Full Canonization is a special, extra session which costs $20, which helps to support your GM in creating the lavish, immersive game world for you. What is involved?
The process of Full Canonization is much like an interview, so come prepared to answer prompts about your character’s physical appearance, mannerisms, personality, and other details in addition to their history! The more information you provide, the more impressive their article on the Myzelis World Anvil will be. However, it's a good idea to focus on answers that you want to be public information, as well as things that are observable through the senses. You should not share information you intend to be kept secret, unless you have an explicit mention that it is a secret - and even then, you should assume that if you share that secret, it will get out. Information in canonizations are things that anyone can learn through basic gossip to dedicated investigation, as well as magical scrutiny through divination spells. World Anvil provides a number of questioning prompts that we may use in canonization, and some of those prompts may include details that you have not yet had the opportunity to explore with your character. To help you prepare for what will come up so you can have thought about it without being put on the spot, you can see all of the prompts in this Canonized Character Template. (And even if you don’t intend to get your character canonized, this list of prompts is excellent for further character development!) You are not required to use World Anvil's specific prompts as presented if you do not want to, and the information about your character can be presented in a freeform format instead, if you prefer! The template also has an option to include a portrait for your character. Any artwork that is not your original work will require you to provide us with the artist's permission to use the image for this purpose. This could be good place to show off your miniature for this character, if you want to include some art but don't have any illustrations. Roomba is a big fan of Hero Forge® as a tool for players to make an approximate likeness of their characters that can be used as portraits! (And if you use our Hero Forge® affiliate link when you buy a mini you've created, it also helps support the program!) How long does a Full Canonization take?
It varies, but you should be prepared to spend 1-3 hours. If the canonization needs to take longer than that, another special session may need to be scheduled. The more prepared you come, the less time it should take! You can fill out answers to the prompts ahead of time, and bring the completed template to your canonization, which will significantly reduce the amount of time the canonization should take. Once the interview is complete and your character's information has all been entered, their article with be published to the World Anvil for everyone to see in all of its glory!
