The Bimaadiziwin Foundation is a beacon of hope and support for children and youth across Naagani who are orphaned, in need of safe housing, or have been removed from dangerous homes. The Foundation operates two villages dedicated to fostering the emotional, mental, and physical health of these vulnerable individuals.
Endayaan Village, situated at the southern tip of Makeena, is a haven for orphans, offering a nurturing and secure environment where all their fundamental needs are met. The village comprises ten houses, each with a “House Mother”, and capable of supporting up to ten youngsters. In addition, there is a school divided into two wings, one for primary and the other for secondary education, ensuring comprehensive learning opportunities for all age groups. The community center and medical center cater to their social and health requirements, creating a holistic support system.
Central to Endayaan's mission is the vocational training center, which includes a workshop and attached classrooms. Here, youths can engage in a variety of courses and apprenticeships in trades and industries such as motor mechanics, metalwork, plumbing, electrical engineering, carpentry, pottery, lumber trades, tailoring, agricultural courses in food farming, and animal husbandry. The availability of these trades depends on the presence of specialists and the interests of the youth, ensuring that each individual can pursue a path that suits their talents and aspirations.
Wabun Village, the twin of Endayaan, is located on the mainland of Naagani, just outside Aerolith. Wabun offers a less remote option for children who prefer to stay closer to the city while still receiving the support they need. Training at Wabun includes office administration, computer programming, mechanics, plumbing, electrical installation, tailoring, and construction. This proximity to Aerolith provides the added advantage of easier access to urban amenities and opportunities.
As the youths in Bimaadiziwin's care transition into young adulthood, their focus shifts to securing employment and independent living. The Foundation extends its support to these young adults by assisting in finding employment, housing, clothing, and food. Moreover, they provide crucial education in budgeting and navigating the complexities of the wider world as an adult. This comprehensive support ensures that the transition from the village to independent life is as smooth and successful as possible, empowering these young adults to build a stable and fulfilling future.
“I was abandoned when I was only a few days old. Without the Bimaadiziwin Foundation, I would have died. Without them, I wouldn’t have the productive and satisfying life I do now.”
