The Mirian Academy

The Mirian Academy lies on the island of Mirios, up the singular road on that island from its own port town, and in fact only civilization other than the Academy, the town of Kell. The Mirian Academy is primarily a wizards' academy, though they delve into all manner of arcane research. In addition to training and educating wizards, the Academy remains a safe environment as well for sorcerers to learn about and expand their innate powers, as well as for warlocks to learn about their patrons and their powers in an environment free of the stigma normally associated with their kind.
Despite being just off the coast of Antivassos, the island of Mirios and the Mirian Academy remain free of association with or ties to any nation, remaining sovereign unto themselves and under the full authority of their own Council of Mages. As a result, they rely upon their own devices to maintain a steady incoming. The college of Alchemy provides many of the potions and magical tinctures that can be found in various shops around Nadmir, while the college of Enchantment is the soruce of many of the more common magical items one can find in the world. The college of Transmutation spends no small amount of its time generating precious resources from mundane ones.
In addition to these services, Mirian Mages, after graduating, often hire out their services to powerful organizations, individuals, and even to national governments. This services carries no political attachment - the Mirian Mage is essentially a mercenary, hiring their services to the nation or individual whom they choose, and who is able to match their asking price. Often, mages will use this to pay off the considerable tuition charged by the elite academy - another source of its income.
Altogether, the Mirian Academy remains the foremost wizards' academy in Nadmir, nearly, but not quite, rivaled by the Logos Arcanica in Kheleboros.
