Cezlios
<Sehz-lee-ohs>
The Ponderer
Divine Domains
Cezlios is associated with philosophy, knowledge, and intellectual thought. He is seen as a particularly powerful god, and resides in a plane of his own creation known as the Cooling Sands.
Holy Books & Codes
Cezlios notably has no formal holy book, and his followers refuse to write them. The god and his chosen clerics are insistent that knowledge without understanding is meaningless, and that simply following a religious text blindly is a pitiful endeavor. Instead, his devout follow a loose set of codes to guide their journey.
Largely these codes are philosophical in nature, directing the reader to follow knowledge wherever they can, and carefully watching oneself for ignorance in bias. The codes say little of what knowledge can or should be used for, and rather vaguely point towards it leading to enlightenment.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
A popular mortal symbol for Cezlios is a delicately folded piece of origami whose paper is covered in writing, often shown with a legible message of some sort. Usage of the symbol is meant to represent the ability to find new meanings with seemingly unrelated knowledge - in this case, the knowledge of origami allows a new message to be read.
Several sigils for the god exist - one such sigil is reserved for use by clerics of Cezlios. Forgery or misuse of such sigils is strictly forbidden, and the devout of Cezlios are well motivated to track down those who misuse them.
Divine Goals & Aspirations
Cezlios seeks to ponder existence and the vast breadth of information in the multiverse, collecting knowledge large and small. To this end, he recruits clerics that have dedicated themselves to the same pursuit of understanding. Most he gathers in the Cooling Sands, where they discuss such matters. Others remain on the material plane in search of more information.
Most clerics of Cezlios are those that have already achieved enlightenment in some subject, or at least meet a fitting standard for a god of knowledge. They make a plea to him, and should he deem them worthy Cezlios appears to grant them his powers. Most are transformed in some way, unique to each individual and often related in some way to their expertise.
A small number of Cezlios's cleric are those that he saw great potential in, granting them powers to aid their pursuit of knowledge. Such clerics are rarely transformed, and revered somewhat by the Cezlios's devout. But, following their code, few direct answers are given to them in their pursuit.
