Gambler's Coin
Significance
The Gambler's Coin is an incredibly powerful magical coin made by a wizard more than two thousand years ago, though the exact date is unknown. Allegedly, the wizard made the coin and intentionally left it in a busy trading district so it would be found and used. It has since become popular as the focus of many folk tales, bardic adventures, and children's allegories.
It is said that the coin can grant any wish imaginable to those who own it - but only if the wielder bets something of their own of equal value. By flipping the coin, they gamble a chance receive their wish and keep what they bet, or lose what they offered.
If the user offers something that is deemed not valuable enough, it is destroyed or taken from them. Stories tell that offerings can be nearly anything that the user owns, or controls - physical or otherwise. Tales tell of those who bet their kingdoms, their bodies, and their memories.
The coin itself it said to be very mundane looking - a simple faded and scratched coin from a bygone civilization.
