Mafei Yun is the currently ruling monarch of Xeblisau, having taken the throne in 3937 EC. She is a widely liked public figure, primarily among the commonfolk, and has lost some favor among the great houses who originally elected her by a wide 8 to 3 margin.
She rules from Chizhou along with her wife Sayuri Ya.

Mafei Yun came from a merchant family which became increasingly successful under the joint leadership of her and her father. In the early 3930s she became more politically active, and garnered great support among the commonfolk. The great houses of the nation voted her as the new monarch after the passing of Monarch Tada Tsyuichi in late 3936 EC.
Partway through her reign as monarch, Mafei passed a law granting equal power and title to the spouse of a ruling monarch. While widely adored by commoners as a romantic gesture for her wife, the great houses of the nation detested the law as an affront to long held traditions in the nation. They have frequently brought up the fact that the wording on this law does not clarify those with multiple spouses, in addition to numerous other oversights.
