People of Torquini

The people living in the Town of Torquini are split into two main groups, the Halflings and the Humani .

Halflings

The halflings who live under poverty in the city of torquini have grown to become resentful of the humans who took over their lands, but their forest and are oppressing them in what they feel is their own city. Since they are a minority in the town they can't actively go against the baron, and the city guard are under his influence and act as an extension of The Syndicate . That is why the younger ones and some of the old ones have formed The Fleetfoots and are fighting from the shadows to reclaim their world.

Humans

The humans who live in the city are divided into the very poor peasants and small business owners who live their lives oppressed and barely make enough food to survive. There are also those who are born into the guard families who work with the Syndicate and spend their lives stealing, blackmailing and beating down on the peasantry. Lastly there is the Torquini family, which the city is named after, the oldest male of whom becomes the Baron, and is the leader of the city. As long as they pay their taxes properly to The Empire , nobody in the higher command has the time or want to do anything about it.

The Bloomsday Book

Another major dividing factor is the Bloomsday Book which sits in the middle of Greenwood square, which is inside the halfling part of town ( named after the giant tree there ). While the story is interesting and more or less everyone in the city follows it, the humans do not know the start, as they arrived at the town after its creation, and while no halfling alive knows how it came to be there, the start of the story is a closely guarded secret.
