Entering the Samurai Quarter of Toshi no Naishou

When a samurai enters the Samurai Quarter of Toshi No Naishou for the first time, they are expected to loudly proclaim their name and parentage. The form and detail of this proclamation vary from clan to clan, with samurai of the Lion Clan tending to recite their lineage for several generations while ronin occasionally don't even name their parents.   This ritual is believed to have begun during the period of unrest in the first half of the 8th century when the city changed hands repeatedly.
