Chapter 3, Session 2: BLOW THE BLOODY DOORS OFF!
General Summary
The party left the chamber of Emperor Honour and his council and decided that they would make the most of the 2 days free that they had by resting, recuperating and training.
Peregrine was quiet and reserved during this period; as though still deep in thought over the events that transpired in Honour's chamber and so the rest of the party focused on their own work.
Sigholdt Sofiasson, still not willing to risk revealing his weapons and the quori and Nocta Mori that come with them, went to the blacksmith and purchased a magical sword to use for the time being that would allow him to fight with some effectiveness if push came to shove in Sanctuary.
Sigholdt then also went to visit The God-Maker, a young half goblin and half Aasimar that was missing an eye and, when told about Sigholdt's curse, gave him a trinket of a minor god of curse breaking, stating that he could give him a permanent enchantment but that the tomes with that incantation and knowledge was confiscated when he and his master were run out of Siridome. Sigholdt stated that if he could find the tomes he would return them and the goblin stated that Sigholdt's medallion would be ready in the next 3 days but that he would need to make a blood sacrifice to it each day in reverence and it would take up and attunement slot.
After successfully trading a set of plate armour for the blade, along with some blacksmith ores and materials Sigholdt made his way out of the blacksmiths and saw a display and speech by a group known as The Celestial Chosen in which their leader, a good looking and well groomed human asked for any able bodied men, women and children to consider joining and training with the faction to fight the dark nightmare causing monsters of Kaechaek. When the crowds were not convinced by the leaders assertion that they would destroy the creatures from the dark, Sigholdt watched as the group wheeled out a set of cages that were covered. When the curtains were pulled back, a group of vampire spawn were revealed and turned to ashes by the sun's rays as proof of the groups success. The leader of the group revealed that these vampires were found wandering the mountains and Sigholdt couldn't help but note the self satisfied and pleased smile on the leaders face as the vampires were destroyed.
After this display, many moved to put their names down with interest in joining the group. Including Sigholdt, who spoke to the leader and learned that the group trained in the estate of The Celeste Family and that the leader was the eldest son of the family; Roland Celeste. He expressed that he was looking for fellow hunters but, when Sigholdt showed reluctance, he also explained that he was happy to accept those that wished to visit and support with training. Sigholdt thanked him and said he would consider the offer of training.
Hermione of Vallea, Esmerae and Mallus Somnium stayed in their tavern: The Diamond Boat to rest and recuperate. Sigholdt soon entered and told them what he had found, as well as expressing that he would avoid the group if Esmerae was made uncomfortable by his proximity to her family; contrary to this, Esmerae instead asked Sigholdt to check to see if her family were safe and doing well.
Hermione then decided to join Sigholdt in the training in order to ensure he did not repeat his antics of disrespecting and being combative with nobility (citing his interaction with Kindness in Bloomwilt) but found herself out of her depth when she was forced into armour and, due to a miscommunication, was then trusted to lead training with a group of battle mages.
However, Hermione soon found her feet and, discarding the armour, led the mages on a series of obstacle courses and physical activities to recreate the feeling of battle for them; showing the difference between studying magic and actual battle experience.
Sigholdt meanwhile trained with the warriors of the Celestial Chosen by allowing them to treat him like a practice dummy, resulting in him getting beaten up for multiple hours in order to train for the tough feat.
When training ended, the pair of them spoke to Roland Celeste a little more and learned that he formed the faction when his sister was apparently taken and killed by a vampire named Viktor at which point Roland promised he would kill every vampire he met until he could take his shot at the one that murdered his sister.
Sigholdt and Hermione then took this back to Esmerae and Mallus in the tavern.
While the two trained, Esmerae and Mallus decided to go for a walk through Sanctuary so that Esmerae primarily could retrace her old steps and enjoy the city as it once was. They ended up wandering through the seedier parts of town and found themselves in an alleyway where a halfling with an ill favoured look attempted to sell them Dream Veil before they refused and he attempted to have them tailed... only for the person following them to fall off the roof... it was a rough round of natural 1 checks...
Thoroughly concerned and spooked by the strangeness, Esmerae and Mallus returned to the tavern where they met Sigholdt and Hermione.
The group chatted about what they experienced and Esmerae expressed her concern about her family not knowing she was, in fact, alive. They floated the idea of Esmerae sending a letter to her parents expressing that she was alive but she was unsure about whether or not that would be a good idea.
The group then rested with Mallus keeping watch.
The next day the group joined Mikhael Solitsev and Da'Shaw Calinax for their meeting to discuss the plans for dealing with the Dream Veil which involved a violent and indiscriminate level of murder and destruction in order to ensure the demise of the group. The Kaechaek Party were matched with one of The Venator named Faithful and they were sent into one of the marked buildings... which they busted through and immediately came face to face with a group of Quori and Nocta Mori guards.
