Mezzatli is a mysterious barony perched on the mountaintops of Kaechaek and found in a section of the nation claimed by neither Quori nor Nocta Mori. The barony is shrouded in mystery and is notoriously isolated and secretive in their ways though not due to any xenophobic musings on their part but, rather, they have a reputation for housing an army of dishonourable and disgraced warriors, rough criminals that escaped the trip to Grim Hallow and hordes of undeath. Much of this is due to the barony being ruled by Ishman Del'Rieve, her private warriors known as The Black-Blooded and her cabal of mages and apprentices known as The Wendel Family . This has been further fuelled by Mezzatli being a space of perpetual strangeness, there is a belief that neither The Quori nor The Nocta Mori have laid claim to the landscape of Mezzatli not through good luck but, rather, through their mutual fears of another creature that HAS laid claim to the space though this has not been proven by any credible sources and is rather speculation based on the presence of strange monsters and the even stranger mutations that many individuals undergo by living in the space. Those that visit Mezzatli however are often left impressed with their hospitality, underground cart network into the mountains (both for accommodation, mining and protective measures), their skilled culinary expertise with a variety of fungi (as well as their ability to brew a mind boggling amount of very VERY interesting drinks using fungi as the base ingredient) and the amiability of the individuals that live there and take joy in poking fun at the stigmas and reputations associated with the barony. Though, there is often a constant feeling of unease when certain doors are locked to these visitors and there is never time given to allow them to wander too far out of the constant watch of guards and citizens of the town.

Demographics

Many of the inhabitants are of smaller and sturdy races with Dwarves and Halflings as well as Rock Gnomes being exceptionally popular. Humans often take on strange features that make them look markedly different and often cause unease in those around them whilst many Drow also reside in the barony.
