The view on spellcasters in Kaechaek

The people of Kaechaek, specifically The Spooks and The Venator have unique and rather controversial (in the eyes of the foreign baronies) opinions on spellcasters that have linked to the natives and their feelings on how individuals can be manipulated so easily by forces offering arcane power, faith and belief as a result, many people in Kaechaek do not trust certain spellcasters and many baronies and cities (notably including Sanctuary) will not permit spellcasters with a certain mindset within their walls. The following spellcasters are seen as risky within the land of Kaechaek:
  • Clerics and Paladins: They are seen as risky due to their reliance and faith in Gods; this is much of the reason for Kaechaek itself being a godless land. To the people there, deriving power from beings that visit and give orders from dreams presents an unnecessary risk of manipulation at the hands of The Quori and The Nocta Mori and their cunning manipulations. Because of this, clerics and paladins in Kaechaek are committed to an oath that does not pertain to a god, paladins commit themselves to people or concepts while clerics commit themselves to abstract ideas and beliefs... often ignoring the divine figures symbolic of that belief. Clerics and paladins from foreign nations that worship figurehead-like Gods are distinctly less trustworthy.
  • Warlocks are seen as desperate individuals who hunt for magical power and, though their reasoning is seen as 'fair', their search for magic allows them to be easily manipulated by the Quori and Nocta Mori who will often use warlocks in their machinations for more power across Kaechaek in their endless war against the other.
  • Wizards are, strangely, seen as a larger threat than warlocks, clerics and paladins due to their lust for knowledge and hunger for more and more power... much of this was derived from the wizards and mages in Kaechaek choosing to ignore the extraplanar battle of the Quori and Nocta Mori (as well as the way in which they shape the land of Kaechaek). Instead, mages see the land in the same way foreign powers do; as a well of magic to tap into and utilise for their own ends. The Unwaking Coven were born of mages and wizards and now represent a tremendous threat to Kaechaek on both a material and extra-planar level. As a result, wizards are not trusted and are closely monitored in many Kaechaek baronies.
