Ersazn

As far as the rest of Namkural is concerned, Ersazn is little more than a regional deity who watches over the shadowkin in Isophelair. His outward reputation is that of a god who is isolated in his mountainous home beneath Erszay, concerned with very little beyond what happens inside his country's borders -- though none could argue that Isophelair is not well-defended.   In truth, Ersazn is a much more powerful deity than most could even guess at. As one of the oldest beings on the plane, he has a storied history that dates back to the wars between the elves on Vyril. Namkural is only the latest of his homes, and a place where he thought his people could thrive without the conflict that characterized their existence and near-extinction on their home plane. Since then, he has consolidated power and worked very hard to make Isophelair into a paradise for the shadowkin. Even other deities, however, would be hard pressed to say what he spends most of his time doing. Some would even write him off as little better than a micromanaging parent seeing to the petty, mortal struggles of the shadowkin where many have ceased to see their followers on that scale.   Ersazn himself, however, knows that the fate of Namkural could easily turn on the choices of the few and the unnoticed. To that end, he is a far more meddlesome god than most would give him credit for -- playing multiple levels of chess with himself, in a way, to pull strings influencing events that will not come to pass for centuries. The influence of the xerai god he consumed, part of whose portfolio he absorbed, leant a touch of the predictive and oracular to Ersazn's already analytical and detail-oriented mind. Other races may write shadowkin visions off as silly superstition, or little better than vague dreams they interpret as important. For the shadowkin, however, they are well aware that when their patron god appears to them, it is with clear and explicit instructions. In this way, Ersazn manages to have an influence on much more goings-on across Namkural than he otherwise appears to.
