Ossald

A floating city carved out of huge rocks suspended in the sky, Ossald is the capital of Sadrom's Nyssult province. Situated in the heartland of the nation, the province itself is known for its dense faewild and rich farmland. Though portions of the area are protected in order to preserve the ecosystem there, orchards and farms dot the region, warded at the edges to keep the contained faewild from spreading into cultivated areas.
Ossald in particular has a reputation for its production of seraphima. This potent, bright blue alcohol is a Sadromi staple, consumed alike on ritual, formal, and casual occasions. Though with a similar alcohol content and burn to whiskey, it is distilled from a fruit native to the region and bears a citrus-like aftertaste particularly beloved of the sylphs. Variant types include white seraphima -- which is cut with a drug particularly effective on the fae, and thus classified as a controlled substance rather than just a liquor -- and golden seraphima, which is distilled from a hybridized version of the fruit grown only in Ossald.
With its metropolitan area situated on the floating islands in the sky, the land below Ossald has been parceled out into farms and orchards owned by merchants there. With gently rolling hills and steeper slopes up into the forests, it has been converted into a patchwork of fields, orchards, and tiered farms suitable for growing all types of crops. Yet the dominant one by far are the serapi trees cultivated there. They bloom with soft blue flowers in the spring, attracting bees and other pollinators, and produce the vivid blue serapi fruits in the summer. These, then, are harvested and processed into seraphima. Certain orchards may be noted for particular flavor notes or blends, and Ossaldi seraphima has a reputation as being some of the purest, highest quality, and most expensive within the nation.
