Findril Haasthal

Findril Haasthal serves Astora as its General. As Astora's High Commander, Findril oversees the general operation of all military power inside Astora, plans the defence of the country from outside threats and serves as the Astoran representative to the Daytower Alliance. Findril often convenes with The Council of Nine, taking their observations about military action under consideration.
General Haasthal is posted in the city of Vinguard, at Astoran High Command. From Vinguard, Findril oversees the placement of military might and additionally supervises the influx of new troops via the Vinguard Academy.

History

Life in The Ironwood

Findril Haasthal was born in AoR 364 in the city of Arnad-Ang. This was during the height of The Ironwood Kingdom's power. His early years were spent training to become one of the Kingdom's most fearsome warriors, a position he eventually earned by the age of 35, becoming a member of Sundumar Araleth's Talons.
During The Ironwood War, Findril, like the rest of Araleth's Talons, was entrusted with some of the most vital missions during the conflict, including the reclamation of Eldath's Embrace from Astoran hands. During Operation Torchwood, Findril and The Talons served as Arnad-Ang's last line of defence, and eventually as the last defence for The Citadel. Though both would quickly fall to Astoran might.

Integration into Astora

It would be during the battle for Arnad-Ang that Findril, along with many of his brethren, would recognize the destruction that the Iron-King Galvaden had brought upon elven-kind. It was here that Findril threw down his weapons in an attempt to surrender and save elven lives. Due to his surrender and the following annexation of the Ironwood Kingdom into Astora, Findril was released from military custody as a free citizen. 
Years later, as part of an attempt to reconcile with its elven population, Astoran law proclaimed elves were now fit to serve in the military. Findril would join up, preferring the military life above one as a private citizen.

Promotion to General

Findril quickly became recognized as one of the top warriors within the Astoran Military, not only due to his proficiency in combat but also his strategic mind. Findril, as the only former member of The Talons to serve in the military, was quickly given greater responsibility within the organization, commanding mixed regiments of elves, men and dwarves.
In AoR 512, with Astora mired within the worst of the Remnant pursuit and still looking to improve relations with its elven population, named Findril Haasthal as the High Commander of the Astoran Military. It was decided that due to Findril's extensive knowledge of Ironwood tactics and former relationship with Sundumar Araleth, his knowledge would become invaluable to Astora as they looked to snuff out the rebel incursions.
This move was met with dismay by many within Astora, primarily by humans concerned with the level of devotion Findril may show when fighting against his former allies. Many began to refer to him as "The Dove", a name half-mocking his promotion to General as merely a peacekeeping and face-keeping effort by the Council of Nine, rather than it being based on actual military merit and strategy.
