Kimberly

Kimberly is a quiet Astoran village sitting on the northern edge of the Ironwood Forest, only a few days northwest of Vinguard. Kimberly lies along the main route of the Astoran Road, making it a fairly popular resting spot for caravans and travellers.
Furthermore, Kimberly is quite well-known in the region for it's apple orchards, more specifically, the Welles Family Orchards and Ciderhouse. The Orchard was run by Davis Welles whom also served as Town-Master until his untimely  death on the 27th of Song's Song, AoR 608.

History

Founding

Kimberly was founded some years after the end of The Ironwood War, during a time in the region when several small villages began to settle the area around the forest, now that it had become part of Astora proper. The village was likely settled by descendants of the Welles Family, as they've been part of the community in Kimberly as long as any can remember.

The Festival Massacre

Kimberly's annual apple festival would be interrupted in AoR 608 as the town fell under attack by raiders. Kimberly's small garrison was easily overwhelmed and would suffer several casualties in the melee. Though the raiders would eventually be driven off by traveling mercenaries and adventurers, the damage had already been done. Many civilians laid dead in the streets and Kimberly's Town-Master, Davis Welles, had been killed.
This event would shake Kimberly's inhabitants to their core, and would prompt an official investigation by the Astoran military.

The Bad Apple

Kimberly's only tavern and inn, The Bad Apple is named as an ironic play on Kimberly's reputation for it's region-famous fruit. The tavern is owned by a pair of Halfling brothers; Dusty and Kurt of the Hills.

Ciderhouse

Part of the Welles Family Estate, Ciderhouse is a large cider-mill, capable of handling the entirety of the product harvested from Kimberly's orchards. Apple juice, cider and hard cider was produced in the cidery, along with various other apple-type products. Additionally, Ciderhouse has a small eatery, usually used for cider tastings or other high-class events.
