Manacite

Manacite is a type of crystalline ore that was once very common in the northern regions of the Naodica continent. Smaller deposits are found throughout the whole of the continent but large deposits have seemingly vanished with the fall of the Derendal Magocracy in 0AF (roughly 1,000 years ago). Interestingly of note is the sudden arrival of the So'Karsan archipelago saw a substantial increase in access to Manacite worldwide as the floating islands have perhaps the largest deposit of Manacite currently available in modern times.

Uses

Manacite is typically used in two major ways; refined, and unrefined. Each variant of manacite has a variety of uses for both mundane and magical purposes. The usage of manacite has ebbed and flowed based on the ease of access to the mineral, with the Age of Magic being known for its widespread usage prior to the sudden destruction of most manacite within a short period of time. Currently, manacite is seeing an increase in usage due to the discovery of new manacite veins and the arrival of the So'Karsa islands from another reality that is rich in the mineral
Refined manacite is primarily used in the creation of weapons that can be magically attuned. The material is one of the few that allows for magic to interact positively with metal instead of dampening it. It has also been used in limited amounts with armor to protect magic users without dampening their magical capabilities. This though is often seen as expensive and wasteful due to the cost of manacite.
Unrefined manacite is often used to store magical energy and is thus often used as a sort of power source for a variety of manacite-based technologies such as; lighting, golems, airships, communication crystals, healing stones, etc. Due to the relative rarity of manacite in most of the world only the very wealthy, or those living in manacite-rich regions, can enjoy the benefits that manacite can provide. In addition, manacite itself, in a ground-up unrefined form, is used in the creation of Neronian.
