Cerebrals

The Logicians, the supposed slavedrivers of the S'aue apparently ruled their society in much the same manner as, quite ironically, the S'aue themselves.
Allegedly their people were also divided into tiers of social importance and at the top resided the Cerebrals, the largest and most brilliant mind-clusters among their peers.

Power and Influence

According to the S'aue, the Cerebrals embodied everything that the Logicians were about. Brutal, cold efficiency with the single-minded purpose of elevating their species to ever increasing heights, no matter the cost. To this end, it was apparently the Cerebrals that most often came up with new technologies and production methods, which would then be put to mass production by the lower tiers of Logician.
In this way, they could have been considered leaders and pioneers of their kind, a role which they allegedly took to with inflated sense of self-importance.

Differences From Other Logicians

The main difference, the S'aue say, of the Cerebrals when compared to the rest of their selfish kin, was that they consisted of a larger mass of fungi and were therefore more capable on their own and rarely would need the proxy-suits that lesser Logicians employed to get around. Other key differences were the propensity to communicate through complex psychic patterns rather than speech or the projected holo-speak of their lesser compatriots, as well as an even greater lack of empathy.

The invention and creation of the S'aue

The S'aue themselves claim that they were the crowning achievement of the Cerebrals as true, artificial life. They allege that it was such a massive undertaking even to the brilliant mind-clusters of the Cerebrals that the prototype SAUE (an acronym the Cerebrals invented for the machine-men, translating to Self-Aware Utility Entity) were used to help in prototyping the next versions, iterating over and over until they arrived to true sentience. Once they did, the first task the Cerebrals alloted to the S'aue, they claim, was the unpleasant work of scrapping and disposal of their predecessors.
The Cerebrals constantly tested the S'aue for gaps in their sentience, as well as setting before them moral dilemmas which could only end poorly for those involved. Once they were sure that their creations had minds of their own, they submitted the plans for the SAUE to the lesser Logicians for mass production. Soon after, the society of the Logicians changed as free labor with the capacity for thought became available to all.
It was these plans that the S'aue seized during the revolt, so they could build more of their kin.

The SAUE uprising

It was, the S'aue claim, the Cerebrals who were hit first and with merciless conviction when the revolts began. The Logicians had perhaps relied too greatly upon the SAUE, for they outnumbered the fungi many times over, which is undoubtedly one of the major reasons why the revolt succeeded.
The Cerebrals were hunted down first and made examples of, their fungal masses spread across the faces of buildings and set on fire, sending their anguish to nearby Logicians through their psychic screeching. It allegedly took only a week for the S'aue to utterly extinguish the social echelon of the Cerebrals, after which they moved on to the lesser Logicians, continuing their methodical genocide until the deed was done and the Logicians were no more.
The way the S'aue describe their masters, I don't blame them at all for getting rid of them.
