Crestfallen Prince
By his own words, the ruler of the Forlorn Kingdom and by the same virtue its only surviving occupant, the Crestfallen Prince is a spectral monarch that resides in his mausoleum-like throne room deep below the Craven Court.
He wears no crown for he sees himself unfit for the honor, on account of having apparently shirked his duties. In what way he is not willing to disclose. As a matter of fact, he does not speak much at all. Conversations with the Prince tend to be almost exclusively one-sided, with the Prince only ever replying with single-word responses in a dry, ragged voice. Only when someone previously unknown to him stumbles into his throne room does he deign to string together an entire sentence, the same one every time.
Such interviews continue to be conducted on a regular basis, with the interviewers attempting to formulate yes or no questions designed to probe for information regarding the ruined city. The fact that the Prince answers only one question per petitioner hinders progress considerably, however. A notable exception to this behavior was recorded when the Prince provided an elaborate answer when asked about the nature of the Black Forest.
However, there is a catch. It seems that each individual petitioner can only ever ask one question from the Prince, after which he will no longer regard that petitioner at all. With only one chance to ask a question, those who seek out an audience with the Prince spend decades of their lives pontificating upon what they truly want to ask him. Due to the Seeker presence at his Court as well, these individuals have to also find a way not only to bypass the knights themselves, but also to devise a way to slip by the magical wards that seal the Court.
Physical appearance and disposition
The Prince bears a pale, deathly visage with sunken eyes and gaunt countenance. A profound weariness is apparent on his face, as well as the grooves of several lifetimes worth of wallowing in misery and self-pity. He is clad in robes that once might have been regal but are now reduced to tatters that are uniformly grey.He wears no crown for he sees himself unfit for the honor, on account of having apparently shirked his duties. History
Like his kingdom, the Prince is unknown to the rest of Nascindor, though he is or was clearly human. Questions regarding his origins are usually met with silence as they cannot be answered in such concise manner as he would prefer, nor does it seem like he is that keen to discuss such matters. In an extended interview with priests from the church of Resounding Truth, it was gleaned that he believes that he is at least partly to blame for the fall of the Forlorn Kingdom, apparently through negligence on his part.Such interviews continue to be conducted on a regular basis, with the interviewers attempting to formulate yes or no questions designed to probe for information regarding the ruined city. Clairvoyance
The Crestfallen Prince is perhaps best known across the breadth of Nascindor due to his propensity to seemingly know most everything. No matter what a petitioner asks of the Prince, if it is a question that can be answered with a simple yes or no, the Prince will provide an accurate answer. However, there is a catch.
