Weeping Memento

Weeping Steel is most commonly fashioned into weapons and armor for the Seeker fellowships, but the leftover material is regularly fashioned into tokens and curios that are widely referred to as Weeping Mementos and sold to the common people.

Design

A Weeping Memento can take any kind of form that its creator wants for it, but most often blacksmiths and jewellers who craft these trinkets want to stay thematical and the resulting keepsakes take the form of small eye-shaped tokens, or perhaps a teardrop fastened onto a string or a ring with a similar eye motif.

Significance

The purpose of the mementos, according to those who wear or otherwise keep them on their person, is to ward off the fear of evil via the remembrance of the tears shed by the corpse of the Progenitor when the first church was built around it.
Those who would count themselves among the truly faithful hold that the Progenitor still weeps for humanity through the Pools of Tears situated in the churches and cathedrals of Resounding Truth, and that it weeps due to the enormous task it has placed upon the shoulders of man.

Properties

Weeping Mementos retain some of the healing properties of the enchanted metal they are crafted from and can, with prolonged enough exposure, promote a general well-being in the wearer. The small tokens also function as deterrents for Hatelings, which abhor the blessed metal. The chances of a commoner ever getting to benefit from this advantage is close to nill, however, as the Black Forest is off-limits to everyone except those sanctioned by the church.
Due to the soothing effects, doctors and other healers often sell Weeping Mementos, peddling the tokens after services rendered. These healers, in turn, get the mementos from the blacksmiths of Seeker fellowships through various connections.
Take this. When you are afraid, squeeze it and think of me.
