Archipelago of Arcana
Located across a series of islands west of the Immortal Lands, powerful wellsprings of Mana call out to those gifted in the ways of magic. Founded by five wandering mages fleeing from the aggressive expansion of the Giants, they saw it as an oasis far removed from the drama & conflict of the plane. In secret, they built their towers in which to study their magic further, away from the prying eyes of the world. Magic that could some day rival even that of the Giants'.
These five Wizards; Araya Abzan, Emrys Bant, Quill Esper, Llywgar Jund, and Emmara Sultai, would achieve monumental breakthroughs in their respective research on their islands. On the largest island, they would share the fruits of their endeavors, and engage in Mage Duels with one another. As the warring outside their islands grew worse, they kept their paradise hidden by enchanting any Giants that happened upon them, convincing them they'd found nothing in this far-off corner of the plane.
But as the fighting escalated even further, it became clear that such measures would be insufficient. With the capture & binding of Fenrys, God of the Hunt, the Wizards finally realized the true scope of the threat posed by the Giants. They had waited too long, and now even their combined powers wouldn't be enough. They would need more. And so, they began missions to the other continents, seeking out those drawn to magic the way they had been all those years ago, spiriting them away to their islands to train in their secret arts. For 25 years they trained the next generation of mages, sending out Simulacrums on covert missions to disrupt the Giants and support the resistance until they were ready to join the fight.
When the combined forces of the Wizards arrived, some say, the war truly began.
