Ghalta, Primal Apex (Gih-shah-th)
The Primal Apex Ghalta (a.k.a. Teeth of the Wilds)
Zacama's progeny, apex of the western island, held in near-demigod regard by the Primal denizens, is Ghalta, the Primal Apex. Similarly to her parent, Ghalta stakes her claim upon the higher grounds and mountain areas of the island. Considered to be at the top of the food chain, falling only beneath the Primal Calamity themselves. Unlike other predators, Gishath remains primarily active, eating regularly as opposed to intermittent periods of hunting, gorging, and sleeping. Ghalta hunts at least once a week, and while her prey remains monstrous and would be considered an apex in any other ecosystem, Ghalta eats her fill and leaves the rest for other animals to feed on. The worthier the prey, the more she eats, in what is believed to be a display of intelligence and/or respect.
This does not mean Ghalta is friendly or indifferent to anything that gets in her way or invades her territory. It means she should be given a wide berth and only once she has moved on should any other living creature attempt to scavenge her kill.
