The Blade of Resilient Mind

This always glittering longsword was forged for Chevalière Odette 'Odie' Falaise by the priesthood of Rochbeare after she was successful in the rite of iron. After her death, it is unknown what became of it.
The sword was created to help Odie overcome her fear of fighting in battle. When the bearer wields it, they hear the quiet crashing of waves, and are filled with a sense of calm, despite any dangers. They become immune to fear, and are more readily able to resist mental pain.

The bearer attuned to this weapon is immune to the fear condition and is resistant to psychic damage. It gives a plus one to attack and damage.

History

This sword was forged for Chevalière Odette 'Odie' Falaise [ʃə.va.ljɛʁ ɔ.dɛt fa.lɛz], three hundred years ago. Odie was a gnome who lived in the town of Têtuen, who grew up competing into children's jousting competitions in the tournoi des agneaux, a local friendly competition that saw the townsfolk's young people competing to win small rewards from various local businesses, and one of several medals. Odie won prizes several times, and this whetted her appetite for honour, valeur, and the battlefield. As soon as she could, at around age thirty-five, she volunteered to join the army of Queen Océane Adries, as they marched against the dread armies of Lord Désol. But as she rode into her first battle, Odie was stricken with terror and had to be taken back to the staging camp by another soldier. She tried three more times to join the battle, but her fear would not let her get close.
Her commanders were sympathetic, but had no use for a soldier who could not fight, and she was advised to go home. But she refused to give up. She started visiting temples and wise people and mages, asking for advice on how to quell her fear. She learned various techniques, but sought more, needing to be certain that she would not fail in battle again.
Finally a priestess in the temple of Rochbeare recognized the depth of Odie's determination and her courage in wanting to face and overcome her fear. She encouraged Odie to petition Rochbeare in the rite of iron and Odie was successful, and the Blade of Resilient Mind was created for her.
When Odie returned to the armies after a year away, the battle still raged and the soliders were exhausted and demotivated. But Odette's courage and resilience, both that which she had built for herself in the year she'd been away, and that which the sword offered her, made her unstoppable and a beacon of hope to her comrades as she rode at the head of her unit and smote many foes.
Odette was knighted and became Chevalière Odette Falaise for her courage during the war. She continued to fight for her queen for another eighty years before she was eventually killed. It's unknown what happened to the sword after her death.
