Naming Traditions

Dwarves tend to have their family names as their forename, with house names like Svern, Thorinbrok and Herhir to name a few. The surname of each dwarf however would be completely dependant on if they had earned it yet, as dwarves as a culture don't think much of someone who has not proven their worth in some way, young dwarves who have yet to earn their name have their unearned name, or Ofortjan in dwarven. This name would usually be a hythenated combination of the earned names of their parents in common tongue, however this hythenated name would always diferentiate from a dwarf who had earnt their name, which would almost always be derived from a great deed of theirs, or something they are gifted at or even just their every day job.   There are some dwarves though who never earn their names under the crusts and soil of Natia and instead set out into the world on their own, relinquishing all ties to the underground and bequeathing themselves new names to show they no longer dwell under the ground.

History

Dwarves have been on the world of Natia for as long as Elves have been there to record them being there. For most of their existence they have spent their time deep below the surface of Natia, digging their holes and searching for rare ores and shiny metals while warring with Goblins, Kobolds and other denziens of the underground. When the elves arrived in Natia many millenia ago a group of them known as the Dark Elves split off and began living in the deep parts that the dwarves inhabited too, leading to conflict amongst them and the dwarves, a conflict that would rage for aeons by Natian standards. When the world was split in two and magic came to the world, the Dwarves would quickly begin noticing the metals they were finding had stronger qualities than before, and were overjoyed with this. However they would soon find an intense darkness permiating the center of the underground, leading for the western part of Natias underground being cut off from the east.

Daemos Dwarves

Over time Dwarves some dwarves would come to the surface, however they would be put off by the Elven empires and roving orcs of Daemos. Eventually when the Heavenfall meteor hit the capital of the Nordalf emppire it would pose a unique oppotunity to Dwarves within Daemos, allowing them to mine demi-ore and build vast city networks beneath the heavenfall impact site. This in turn would lead to more dwarves coming to the surface and now trading with the newly freed vassal and slave races of the elves who would contain knowledge and tools that could help dwarves gain more riches.   Soon Dwarves would begin building cities in mountains, connecting them to the underground networks and creating huge gateway cities where entryways already were, but the larger the Dwarves built their underground cities and roads the more it would attract larger forces of their underground enemies and soon the dwarves of Daemos would have a subteraainian empire forever under siege.
