The Ebony Party
The Ebony Party is one of the founding parties of Le'xi, City of Magi after their founder Igorath Kodosmerti convinced a reluctant Maiden of Many Colors to accept him and his kin into the founding of the new settlement for magi. However following a brief period of rapid recruiting and declaration of the parties ideals and dogma, the Ebony Party became a relatively minor party within the workings of the Parliment of Colors and Le'xi as a whole following the dissapearance of their founder and leader.
Over the majority of the City of Magi's existance, the Ebony Party has kept mostly to itself, only speaking out on matters of great importance to themselves. But following The Wizards War, many grieving magi wishing to reclaim lost friends and loved ones grew to fill up the ranks and Ebony necromancers were able to rise to finally take a seat on the Council of Five Colors.
History
When The Maiden of Many Colors cast her spell in the Ruins of Ser'in that brought the attention of some of the most powerful spellcasters in the land she had no idea what or who to expect to show up. Which is why she was suprised when a shadowy figure began approaching. Despite the fear inspiring nature of the figure she sensed no intent and began walking in kind to meet the shadow made manifest.
This Figure was none other than Igorath Kodosmerti, a human male from the small northern town of Zamerzshayreka who had spent his youth studying the necromatic arts in the frozen wastes and ruins of Krasnoyar. Having answered the summons and despite the maidens trepidations about the dark arts, Igoraths charisma allowed him to sucessfully arguing that despite its perversions and tabooness that necromancy will always exist as a magic and so better to acknowledge and educate rather than shun. And through this train of thought Igorath successfully argued for a place for necromancers in the maidens magical haven.
Despite its acceptance, those of the Ebony Party were still shunned by those within newly founded settlment of Le'xi, and due to this they would find themselves sticking to the shadowy areas of Le'xi, with only a small segment of the city overland belonging to their fellow dark magi. Eventually this segment would be known as the Gothic District, named for the way other parties would describe the architecture of even the most domestic of buildings, however despite the small showing above the necromancers of Le'xi would keep all their secrets and rituals underground, away from prying eyes for even the most benevolent of necromancers has a skeleton or two in their closet.
After decades of recruitment and building towards better treatment and rights towards necromancers both inside the city and out, Igorath would dissapear abrubtly and without warning, with rumors abound as to why and where he had gone. This however left a power vaccum within the party, that despite being filled in by his successor the gnome necromance Keelan Fizzlebone, would weaken the party without a charasmatic leader for many centuries.
During the Wizards War however, necromancers would prove become unlikely heroes, despite most expecting a majority of their ilk if not the entire party to join with the Crimson Party in their continental uprising, a partywide ban was placed upon anyone joining up or supporting the Crimson Parties rhetoric. And even during the fighting itself, many necromancers were seen on the front line saving many innocents and stopping great attrocities using their dark magics.
Once the Crimson Party had been expelled from the City of Magi, a vote was triggered to reform the Council of Five Colors in the wake of the unimaginable destruction, and by the slimest of margins the Ebony Party would beat out the White Party to gain the final seat of the council. Despite causing an uproar in the magical community among those devoted to the light, the decision was seen as legitimate and upheld.
Now that the part is on the council many pushes for reforms have been made by its members and they have become active in blocking any legislation that damages their studies, earning them the ire of other parties on the council, most in particular The Emerald Party whom which they have a long standing feud over slavery of creatures living or dead.
