Carus
The Carus are a strange group, they call themselves Astreiyans, but nobody else does. Split away from their more wealthy brothers and sisters, the Carus made a home on the planets that were destroyed by the Azihr Death Cult.
While the Carus like to present themselves as a people of well educated merchants, over the last few centuries they've had to struggle to settle and mantain the planets they have. Most Carus have spent their time tending the land and fighting off dangers and not making great wealth through trade.

Culture
Culture and cultural heritage
Hundreds of years ago the Carus were Astreiyan. But over the time they've changed quite a bit.
Shared customary codes and values
The Carus care for: Trade, traditional buildings, education, nature and pragmatism.
Common Dress code
Carus people tend to wear easy to wear light clothing. Their clothing tends to be stylish but not overly dramatic.
Art & Architecture
The Carus buildings are far more flamboyant than the people themselves. They are often extravagant and building and for the most part seem to be made out of stone. Carus architecture also gives a lot of room for plants to shine, Either by giving room for large windows or by place plants inside.
Birth & Baptismal Rites
It is common practise to place a new born child in a holder with several balls of wool. Each ball of wool has a name linked to it, the child will grab a ball of wool and this ball will decide their name.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Intellect and hard work are held in high regard among the Carus. They prefer people who seem approachable instead of being overly flamboyant.
Especially in men it is considered handsome to have actual achievements to your name.

Gender Ideals
The Carus are rather egalitarian. They believe that anything a man can do a woman should be able to do and the other way around. Despite this parents tend to be somewhat more demanding of their sons. In general it is expected of a man to go to school while for a woman it is only prefereable.
Courtship Ideals
The Carus strongly link courtship with nature. While they themselves tend to live in civilized cities, when it comes to romance they prefer to go to secluded places with lots of nature around them.
