Aethling Drossfen

Among Prince Galdor VII's large assemblage of consorts, a tall woman with curly magically-colored pink hair stands out as his favorite. The prince makes no attempt to hide how favored Aethling is, and has said on multiple occasions that once he is made emperor, he is going to change the very laws of the empire in order to marry her and make her his queen.
Several members of the royal inner circle have expressed their discomfort over the importance she holds, and have tried to warn the senile Emperor Galdor V about Aethling's potential manipulation of the prince. What they don't know, however, is while the prince has the ambition and assertiveness to rule, Aethling has the brains and the strategy. In tandem, Aethling and Solbled have been ruling over Galdorloth from the shadows for nearly ten years, a decade which has seen some of the highest prosperity in the history of the empire.
Aethling keeps her status as one of Solbled's courtesans to disguise her role as his most trusted advisor and leader of a network of spies known as Fennings that report to her. Her information, handed off to the prince, helps determine nearly all of the empire's military and political decisions.

Much like the prince, her partner and patron, she tends to wear clothing that is of a traditional Taelish style, but considerably dressed-down, almost to a point of disrespect. She'll often wear loose fitting tops and robes that obscure her body shape.
She often wears large, gold-rimmed glasses despite seemingly having perfectly functional vision without them.

Personal history

Born into a semi-wealthy merchant family, Aethling took a special interest in military history at a young age and kept a casual fascination with tactics and strategy throughout her formative years. She particularly became focused on the role of spies in political operations and began to fashion herself into someone capable of the extensive list of skills that a master spy would require. As she aged into her late teens, she learned that having the skills to be a spy didn't mean that you automatically got to become a spy; You still had to have someone hire you, and those sorts of people seemed to be a little difficult to find. As disappointing as this was, she found that her skills strangely lined up with another profession, and with a little bit of alteration to her technique, she soon easily fell into the role of a high-class courtesan.
After working at a high end brothel in Taelhand for less than two years, her reputation earned her a personal invitation to the imperial palace to join the Prince's personal selection of consorts. She came to the palace with the intent on landing the job of a lifetime, and maybe maybe somehow making the transition to her original dream profession of spy. What she didn't intend on was genuinely falling in love with the prince who had hired her.
