Cloak of Smoke and Cinder
Cloak of Smoke and Cinder
wonderous item, clothing (requires attunement)
This short, hooded mantle is in threadbare tatters after being burned in a magical fire. While wearing it, the embers of that fire still burn, and plumes of smoke drape downward to replace the parts of the cloak that were lost.
Whenever you suffer fire damage, the damage is reduced by 1d4 x your proficiency bonus. Each negated point of firedamage is then stored in the cloak, to a maximum of 4 x your proficiency bonus.
As a reaction, whenever you are hit by a melee attack, you can activate the your cloak and let the fire erupt from it. Each creature in a 10ft. radius must make an Dexterity-Saving throw (DC14). On a failed save it suffers the damage, that was stored in the cloak as fire damage, or half as much on a successfull one. Additionally the area is heavily obscured by hot smoke and ash until the start of your next turn.
