Corruption is a conditioned that can not only affect mortals, but also deities. This affliction isn't common, but it is nearly impossible to cure.
Transmission & Vectors
It can stem from many places, strong emotions combined with magic, divine tier poisons, prolonged contact with corrupted places, maledicts...
Symptoms
The symptoms are as varied as the infection sources, to the point were no cleric is equipped to deal with it.
Treatment
The only remedy to corruption is cleansing the body and mind every day for the rest of the carriers life in the waters of a purified lake of holy waters. This doesn't fully eliminate corruption, however it severely impedes its advancement and helps the infected stay sane.
Prognosis
The outcomes vary from transforming losing all kind of rationality, to living longer life spans than expected with enormous amounts of pain, to outright dying a week after the first signs of corruption manifest.
Sequela
The only ones who can get rid of the corruption are the gods themselves and even they don't escape unscathed. The sequela on a deity manifest as darker violet streaks across their bodies than may render the parts they cross unusable.
History
The greatest example of corruption is Lucretia, Flower of Corruption. She not only got corrupted, but also spreads corruption to all that is near her.
Cultural Reception
People fear corruption like they would an outburst of monsters from the abyss. It is the most fear inducing condition in all of Neoria, as well as all planes of existence.
