Gamification

Long ago, the world of Nerele was transformed into a game board for powerful beings to settle an ongoing debate, the power of monsters or the tenacity of humanoids. When the world was first utilized by these beings, they created a game system which would quantify eveything into easily veiwed statistics, careers and fighting styles became "classes" with associated abilities, which denizens of the world would "level up" through their life experience, statisticly refered to as "exp". Monsters too received statistics and ranks, generally refered to as "challange level" by locals, though these are mostly static and typically only advance through unusual means.   Over the thousands of years since the beings created the systems that influence Nerele, a myriad of "classes" and associated abilities have been generated by the gamification influence to suite the unique nature of Humanoids.
Experience (exp)
the peoples of Nerele have their lifes experience condenced into the game statistic "exp", which allows them to raise their level and thus, improve their skills, abilities, and statistics. All people of Nerele will gain some exp throughout their lives after gaining their class at age 14. Typically reaching around fifth level by age 30, though slowing dramaticly thereafter due to the larger amounts of exp required to improve, a typical person may only reach level 7 by age 60, gaining 8th level shortly before turning 67. The slow progress of average folk is intentional, as the system has set up "common" classes to have a slower rate of gain, due to the lower risk of their lives.

EXP:

This lists the expected experience gain based on a persons average activity level.
1 exp/day for a person who lives to see another day on Nerele. This is the minimum reward the system will give for simply not dying on a given day, typically earned by the truely destitute beggers, drunkards, prisoners, or slaves of Nerele.
4 exp/day for a person going about their life normally (working, learning, doing business). This is the typical amount earned by a country farmer, shopkeeper, or city guard on a normal day.
6 exp/day for a person who is truely ambitious; out there, making moves.
8 exp/day for adventurers engaging in exploration and combat most days of the month.
In any engagement, a group fighting monsters will divide it's resualting exp among those presently active in the battle, dangerous, but lucrative.

Author's Notes

GM Note of Classes in Nerele's system:
The system of Nerele will report a character's class as their class archtype, prestige class, or some ammalgum of their multi-class lineup, for this reason, it is useful to plan a character's advancement before the start of a game. Once a character has gained a class upon visiting a town stone after their 14th birthday, or after arriving as a traveler to Nerele, that class will be locked in for the durration of the character's life, with a few exceptions.
1. Through training, a character may be rewarded by the system with access to a prestige class (following all normal rules for prestige classes)
2. By working with a high level Class Master a character may be able to reset their levels, keeping their current exp, allowing for the character to be rebuilt.
3. There are additional "classes" which might be rewarded by the system for completing specific tasks in the world (Gestalt, Mythic teir, etc).
If the player plans out the character's advancement ahead of time (what classes are going to be taken and the general "feel" of the resault), then the system will give the player a "class" name to reflect their unique nature. Note that this only refers to classes and general style, you don't need to nessisarily plan out feats, spells, or other optional features.
Common classes are mostly used for NPC's or specialty games and they will use the "Slow" leveling chart.
Uncommon classes are used for PC's and NPC's and use either the "Fast" leveling chart for PC's or "Medium" leveling chart for NPC's
Rare classes are special classes used mostly by NPC's like class master, though some 3rd party classes could fall into this catagory (such as monster classes, Legendary classes, or similar powerful classes)
Special classes are not classic "classes", but are used to cover character extra's like Gestalt, Hero (Mythic companion abailities), and Mythic Hero (full Mythic Path)
