An ancient Goran who protects and oversees the small, secret Goran population in Crewforte. Kian is considered by many young Goran to be a small-time hero for the work and protection he gives them, but he will always insist he is simply atoning for the crimson in his past.
Physical Description
Facial Features
Kian's face is sharp and angular, with thick eyebrows and deep-set eyes. His skin is scarred in places, mostly from training and close scrapes with hunters. His lips are thin, with the bottom lip slightly thicker than the top, and he has a crooked, dimpled smile.

Personal history
Kian was born to a decent family in the wealthy capital of the Querian Empire. Free of trouble for most of his childhood, he had a good, happy relationship with his mother and father.
When he was sixteen, however, things began to change. His appetite for food ran thin and his hair was growing at such a speed that he gave up cutting it entirely, for it would be fully regrown the next day. His parents thought he had fallen sick, keeping him home to watch over him. Over time it only grew worse, leaving him weak and bedridden.
That is, until he woke one morning to the taste of iron in his mouth, feeling more alive than he'd ever been. The night's events came back to him in pieces: flashes of blood and adrenaline -- and his father at his feet, lifeless.
He fled, leaving the city entirely and trying to survive alone until an older man took notice of his plight. He took Kian in, told him of the stories of Goran -- a new phenomena of people who were said to be turned to beasts by the residual Éla of The Old Magi. He taught the boy they were not cursed, but rather their thirst for blood was merely a side-effect of the great power they were destined to have; that they were chosen by the Old Magi to teach the Magi children of the future.
The old man taught Kian for many years thereafter, showing him their innate power to shapeshift and harness Èla to their benefit; teaching him to control his thirst and bloodlust. Eventually they moved to a small settlement to the north, at the time barely a functional village, and built one of the first Magi Schools together, serving as the first tutors there for many years as the town increased in size.
Since the Empire released a mandate which allows the driving out or extermination of Goran, Kian has lived in secrecy, only revealing himself to other young Goran just coming into their power. His guardian has long-since left town to make his own way once more.

Kian is a strong believer in The Old Magi, believing that Goran contain a piece of their power gifted from beyond death. He is certain that they reached apotheisis upon their deaths, living on as the Gods of the new world, and habitually leaves subtle offerings and prayers to them.
