The Breath of Life

Sil’vat brought into existence many of the mortal races of the world. Dwarves, Elves, Humans, Halflings, Gnomes, Orcs, Tabaxi, Firbolgs, and all manner of people in between came into the world, born of her will.   The Breath of Life was the relic by which Sil’vat did this incredible act. However, upon completing this charge, the other gods grew jealous of this creative power, and implored Sil’vat to allow them to create life to serve their own purposes.   Distrusting the intentions of the other gods, Sil’vat asked Aeshlir to help her seal away the Breath of Life. Aeshlir did so in the best way she knew: by capturing the winds of the Breath of Life and imbuing them into the ground itself.   This act did, indeed, still the Breath of Life as it wove its way through the surface of Naria. However, it had the unintended consequence that the surface of Naria itself would bear the power to support life. Shortly afterwards, nature flourished without the explicit will of the gods, and living beings became able to bear children on their own, as long as they consumed food that came from the ground itself.
