History
The Cult of Fumnir, a religious group of
Aegir Humans that worship
Fumnir, solely comprised within the Aeigir Province has resurfaced numerous times in the Northern Realms. Its inception was in the earliest days of the Aegir's recorded histories and has been snuffed out by clans over the centuries only to resurface years later.
The Cult in 1364AF has become rather large and scattered and considered bothersome to more than just the Aegir. Often found contending with local authorities and seperate religious sects hailing from the
Empire of Sturn.
Beliefs
The Cults ranks are often filled with members that are afflicted with Lycanthropy, the very same curse that is believed to be a punishment or a gift from the Wolf God himself, depending which lycan you speak too. Rituals are often committed in turning helpless victims or willing initiates into the accursed to fill their ranks. Some even say that when one contracts Lycanthropy they can hear the Wolf God's call to commit to the Great Hunt.
The Cult believes that the Wolf god will assume his prophesized mantle, and become the so called 'devourer of the void'. He will slay and consume
Halogi the Aegir goddess of the Sun, his counterpart, and then go on to consume the stars themselves and become a vessel of eternal night.
The Cult covets an artifact from the ancient time of the Aegir people, The Tome of Fumnir, also known as the The Book of Night to some. They believe the tome is a means to bring about Fumnirs transformation to become The Devourer or the Void. It is said to be bound In Fumnir's own flesh and fur and written with the blood of Lycans. The tome has been lost for countless centuries since the first culling, but has recently resurfaced and is now in the hands of an Aegir by the name of
Njal Stormcrow.
