The Old Way

The Old Way stands as the primary religion of the Aegir people of the Aeigir Isle, and its influence extends to the cousin cities within the Aegin Province of The Empire of Sturn. Rooted in a rich tapestry of mythology and deities, this faith embraces a diverse pantheon where worshippers seek guidance, protection, and favor from various gods.

The Aesir - Godkin

The gods of The Old Way are known as the Aesir the gods of the Aegir pantheon. The great enemy of the Aesir are the Bjurdir or in the common tongue, Demons. From the beginning of recorded tales of The Old Way the two groups have been at war. The Aesir are properly the family of Aegar, while the bjurdir are the great enemies of the aesir. The two separate factions have a history of feuds.

Clergy And Followers

Temples dedicated to The Old Way serve as focal points for religious activities but are not just limited to that. Many chieftains also claim to be members of the Gothi, a religious sect dedicated to The Old Way. These sacred spaces are adorned with symbols representing Aegar, his chidldren, and the vastness of the realms. Pilgrims and worshippers gather in these places to seek solace, receive blessings, and participate in communal rituals led by the Gothi.

Realm of Influence

Aegar and the other Aesir are believed to rule a realm called Val'Keln a realm that leads to call others. Val'Keln is fabled to be a perfected version of the mortal world with no flaws. Within Val'Keln runs the river of souls where Aegar decides the fate of those that pass into the afterlife. The souls that are not accepted into Val'Keln continue to flow onto other realms, where other Gods will decide their fate.

The Fracture

One of the most significant events in the history of Nespiere is "The Fracture." This cataclysmic incident marked the Bjurdans' attempt to invade the mortal world. The veil between dimensions weakened during The Fracture, allowing these demons to breach the barrier that separated their dark realm from the lands of the living.   The invasion was met with fierce resistance from the mortal races, as they united against the common threat. The clash between the forces of darkness and the defenders of Nespiere was epic and devastating, with battles raging across the realms. Powerful magic and ancient artifacts were employed and evne the god Halogi appeared before the mortals in an attempt to repel the Bjurdans and close the fractures that allowed their entry.

Aegar - The All Father

Aegar, The All Father, reigns as the chief deity in the Aegir Pantheon. Known as the God of Gods, he holds the titles of the god king and the all-seeing father. For the Aegir people, Aegar is synonymous with wisdom, foresight, and the ruler of fate. All souls passing to the afterlife must answer to him, making him a central figure in the prayers and devotion of the Aegir faithful.

Halogi - Goddess of the Sun

Halogi, the Aegir goddess of the Sun, purity, and time, claims the position of the eldest daughter of Aegar. Often materializing or possessing an avatar on the mortal plane, she is described as radiating with a bright golden light, akin to a halo. In various sagas, Halogi played a pivotal role in the ancient Aegir people's defense against the demonic invasion during the event of the Bjurda (Hellgate) opening. Accompanied by her loyal wolf, Fumnir, Halogi is a symbol of divine intervention and purity.

Bohlagh - God of War

Bohlagh, the Aegir God of war, law, and honor, assumes the role of the eldest son of Aegar. Revered by warriors, raiders, lords, and rulers, Bohlagh is often invoked before battle. His praise resonates in war chants and sagas, and those who die in honorable combat must answer to him before gaining entry to the High Heavens. As the father of war, Bohlagh presides over the final judgment of the fallen.

Fumnir - God of the Moon

Fumnir, the Aegir God of the moon, tracking, and dreams, is a constant companion to Halogi, the goddess of the sun. Revered by hunters, wanderers, seekers, diviners, and dreamers, Fumnir also holds the intriguing title of the father of Lycanthropy in the Old Way. Legends speak of a prophecy from the Cult of Fumnir foretelling his devouring of Halogi, resulting in an endless night—an ancient tale that adds an air of mystery to his worship.
