Zarokan the Black Death

Maddening Whispers

Not long after the creat cataclysm known as The Fracture shook the very foundations of the world, Zarokan, a formidable Black Dragon rose to power. Born with an insatiable hunger for power and an unmatched ambition, Zarokan wasn't content being merely mortal. Consumed by relentless whispers from an Bjurdir, or Demon to attain godhood, Zarokan embarked on a treacherous quest to ascend beyond the realm of mortals and become a deity in his own right.     With cunning intellect and dark magic, Zarokan manipulated particularly Orcs, Humans, Goblins, and lesser creatures, rallying followers who revered the dragon as a divine being. Amassing an army of cultists and dark creatures, Zarokan's influence spread like a shadow across the lands of Nespiere. The dragon promised followers immortality and unimaginable power in exchange for unwavering loyalty. Fueled by his lust for godhood, Zarokan sought ancient artifacts and forbidden knowledge, delving into forgotten tomes and ancient ruins in pursuit of arcane secrets. Through vile rituals and sacrifices, he attempted to tap into forces that mortals were never meant to wield.

Fall of an Upstart God

His claims of divinity echoed far and wide, stirring fear and dissent among the realms' inhabitants. Eventually, a coalition of heroes from Kar'Inorn, Sturnholm, and the Aegir united against Zarokan's reign of terror. In a climactic battle that shook the very foundations of the old world, the heroes confronted Zarokan amidst his sacking of Sturnholm. The skies thundered, and the earth trembled as the battle raged on. Spells clashed, swords clashed against scales, and the heroes fought valiantly against the dragon's dark powers.   Despite Zarokan's immense strength and cunning, the heroes managed to exploit his weaknesses, striking him with a combination of ancient magic and a keen understanding of the dragon's vulnerabilities. With a final, resounding blow, they severed Zarokan's connection to the forbidden energies he sought to harness, ultimately bringing an end to his reign of terror.   As Zarokan fell, his dying roars echoed across the lands, and his colossal form crumbled to the ground, ending the tyrant's pursuit of godhood. The heroes, revered as saviors, became legends themselves, their names etched into the annals of Nespiere's history as the valiant champions who thwarted the ambitions of a dragon that dared to challenge the gods. And thus, the world of Nespiere found peace once more, the tale of Zarokan forever remembered as a cautionary saga of unchecked ambition and the ultimate price of aspiring to godhood.

Current Day Worshippers

Currently in 1364 AF there are still worshippers and dark followers of Zarokan but they are few in number, unorganized, and scattered. Their belief is that Zarokan will eventually rise again and that his pursuit for godhood will reward those that follow him with power. His worship is looked upon by other Faith's as heresy and disdainful.   If Zarokan ever was resurrected the world would truly be brought to ruin. Zarokans remains are protected within the Sturnian capitol of Sturnholm to this day, the location exactly is unknown, only that his remais were never recovered after his defeat.
