Fraelorn the Golden King
The vast majority of hellforged, or "The Shapers" as they called themselves, died out nearly 1500 years prior to Fraelorn's rise to power in Neternus. Roughly 1000 years after the collapse, when the world entered an age of relative peace, the clan of gold was revered for their ability to maintain peace amongst the various hellforged clans, and the many humanoid nations with whom they shared the land. Although they were not proud of it, sometimes to ward off the threat of attacks, they would have to demonstrate their ability to create and wield weapons far more powerful than those of other hellforged. Traditionally, the leader most of the clans would be a member of the clan of gold that would then marry a child of the previous leader of another clan. However, their unique abilities, and the distinct golden arms, could only be passed down when two golden hellforged had children. This meant their population remained relatively small compared to that of the other clans.
There were many humanoids who not only desired the abilities and weapons of the Golden hellforged themselves, but others still who believed their abilities to only be possible through myst magic and the worship of outer gods. Eventually, a large coalition of smaller humanoid nations formed to wipe out the clan of gold. Though they suffered losses, this coalition prevailed, save for a single hellforged that ran from the village as soon as they got word of a war party approaching.
Fraelorn, the last of the Clan of Gold, vowed to hone his mind body and soul, until he could get revenge on the rest of the world. He built an army of others he felt had been wronged by most everyone. He learned to lead with tactics and charisma none of his forefathers had possessed. He forged weapons greater than any hellforged had before. But all of this, only after hundreds of years of hardship, and yearning for his revenge.
"Yes, I've heard of these gods of money and trade. Who's priests deny their faith. Who's followers work lifetimes to pay their tithes. They've already sent men to convert the humans, and failed. They'll never set foot on my mountain."
