Gaal

A strategy game played amongst children and adults alike on Neternus. 2-4 players each player represents a squad of soldiers. Each with 12 soldiers and 2 territories. All having one "front territory" and one "rear territory". A rear territory holds the players reserve troops and produces 1 troop per turn. A front territory holds the players active troops which the player can add 2 from their rear to front territory per turn. Soldiers in the front territory may also battle other player's front territories. In a battle each player decides how many soldiers (up to 4) will participate. The defender must use at least as many soldiers as the attacker or maximum available. Then the players roll a corresponding number of d4 and calculate troop losses as in Risk. Only a single battle can be performed per turn. If after a battle is concluded one front territory has no troops, the winner of the battle takes control of it, sending the number of remaining attacking soldiers to the new territory. This occupied territory and its corresponding rear territory may now do battle with one another. When a player takes control of a rear territory they gain its troop production. When a player holds all of the rear territories they have won the game of Gaal.
