Artifact (legendary)
This ancient device of lore was supposedly designed and constructed by the Netherese in -332 DR. Allegedly, it was created by Arch Wizard Morgan Thelas, sister of Karsus. She crafted it in order to rival her brother's budding renown in the magical community. According to legend Morgan captured and enslaved a great dragon from the Astral Plane named UryteThanachthrax, also known as "The Growing, Forgotten Chaos." She bound it to the device so that the beast could be summoned from anywhere on the Material or Astral Plane. A feat that earned her an honorary title and much fanfare.
The existence of this artifact is purely theoretical, but
if it did exist as some rumors suggest, its powers would
include the following:
Break the veil.
The device can penetrate the veil between our plane and that of the Astral Plane. It does this in order to transport the enslaved beast to the Material
Plane from the Astral Plane or vice versa.
Usher death.
When operated precisely, it's capable of propelling the enslaved beast great distances instantly. In this way, the artifact has rained sudden death upon
many an enemy castle, unwitting village, and ill-prepared manor.
Bringer of doom.
The device was designed to ensure that it and its enslaved beast were never separated. To ensure this, it has the power to summon the beast to the
Sky Shatter's location from anywhere it may be on the Material or Astral planes.
