Flantar

Flantar is located at The Northern Oasis and is home to the Odonta which are a gray, thick-skinned, tall race with a trunk nose and large ears. It also has a race of giant kangaroo rats known as the Erriam, lifelong companions and beasts of burden for the city. The Odonta are some of the best glass shapers on Netrosis and having access to such pure sand and water has increased the quality of the glass products they are able to make.

Guilds and Factions

Flantar has a world-renowned Glassmakers guild that holds its quality to the highest standards, accepting any race into the training. The guild has only gotten good craftspersons because they won't allow selfish people in and most selfish people wouldn't travel that far for selfish reasons. Flantar has the Erriam Cavalry, a small group of elite riders who patrol for miles around the city to make sure it is kept safe. Only the best and most dedicated riders can join the Erriam Cavalry but all Odonta know how to ride and fight with an Erriam.

History

Around 500 BD the Odonta settled in the area and found that the Erriam has been able to thrive in this sparse land due to the oasis but also because they had no natural predators and are incredibly efficient at utilizing any water they consume. The Odonta had a need for beasts of burden and the Erriam liked the food that the Odonta brought so this started a beneficial relationship between the two.

Architecture

Buildings are made of the Col rocks to keep them cool and keep in moisture. Square buildings 1-2 levels with an underground storage area.

Geography

Outside of Flantar is white, fine flowing sand for hundreds of miles with hardened sandstone as a means of travel.

Natural Resources

The Northern Oasis is home to some very resilient animals and plants such as Jakaal grass and the Erriam. Jakaal grass is a black grass that thrives in the desert environment due to its color which aids in its absorption of sunlight. Jakaal grass is also incredibly efficient at absorbing and using water from either the air or ground. The Erriam is a 9 feet tall animal and looks like a giant mouse but with a tail 3 times its body size and it hops around on its back feet. The Erriam can pull massive amounts of weight due to the strong legs and balance afforded due to its large tail, they can also jump incredible distances for the same reason. The Northern Oasis is also the only home to the famous Regdar fish. The Regdar fish is 2 to 3 feet long, has 6 feet, a tough skin, sharp teeth and can shoot water out of its mouth at incredible speeds. After it has stunned its target it will walk out of the water and drag its prey back into the water to consume.
The Erriam Cavalry was terrifying already with its 9 foot tall, 1500 pounds steeds....then the steeds launched into the air.
