The Moosataur

Summary

There is a myth about some kind of creature that seems to be part man and part moose, these stories mostly exist on Reshagul but citings have been reported all over the world. The stories told about the Moosataur are that it shows up when nature or those that worship nature is in danger of being uprooted or destroyed.

Historical Basis

The myth of the Moosataur is based on an actual long-lived race who call themselves the Cladashag. The Cladashag has existed for thousands of years but only wander away from their hidden enclaves when something bad is happening in nature. The first citing of a Moosataur was about 4531 BD (Before Desecration) when a blight hit a farming village in the country of Blazinton on Reshagul, the blight wrecked the health of the humans and crops alike. The people there were dying as well as the crops until one day a massive moose person appeared and started healing the people as well as the ground, with him was also some kind of 4 legged armored lizard with a club tail. He said nothing to the people ( or at least nothing they could understand) and once he fixed the blight gave them some seeds and wandered back into the wilderness. The seeds are now the lands most productive crop of Dral, a greyish vegetable that is incredibly nutritious as well as incredibly hardy. Knowing not what to call their savior but knowing what it looked like they decided to call it The Moosataur and the legend is told to this day.

Spread

The legend of The Moosataur has spread across the planet, reaching even the southern continent as well as other places of legend. Most more advanced civilizations take these stories as such but those that inhabit the far reaches of the world and are worried about what the darkness brings take these stories as facts and hope that in their time of need that the Moosataur will arrive and save them from the monsters that seek to destroy the natural beauty of the world. There are even small groups who worship the Moosataur and try to go out and find them.

Variations & Mutation

Variations of the Moosataur generally replace what type of animal the human half is combined with, some versions are: Minotaur ( a Bull/Human ), the Slashkar (Snake/Human) as well as other less common versions only spread in small communities.
