William Swift

William Simon Swift, surviving son of William Robert Swift, is a merchant like his father. But rather than begin his mercantile venture as a peddler of small goods like his father before him, William Simon Swift inherited a strong network of merchant carts and routes and expanded those into small market stalls. Now Swift Goods are known throughout southern England and William Simon Swift is no longer counted among the poor. Part of the burgeoning merchant class in England, Master Swift is now looking at marriage and children in his future.

In 1551 Master Swift was working in London and met the woman who started his family's reversal of fortunes out of poverty - Emma Valgard. He renewed the agreement she had had with his father and produced the back-pay she was owed. While this act did set him back financially, word of his revived relationship with his father's patron spread, just not in mortal circles.
