Strixborn

The Strixborn is the name for the sentient species of Rewei, all of whom were created by a now-extinct species resembling Owls.

Civilization and Culture

History

Rewei was a temperate and easily habitable planet which supported life in many forms of flora and fauna over the milennia. Eventually the planet flourished with animals of all kinds, until eventually one species evolved to a higher form of consciousness and began progressing through stages of philosophy and technology. They became so advanced that they engineered sentience into the animals of the planet creating the Strixborn of today. However, these newly conscious beings were used as slaves for many centuries by their creators. Eventually the bear-like species revolted, using their superior strength and growing intellect to stage a long and gruesome uprising of all the Strixborn.    Eventually they wiped out their creators, and the Ursani established order and a new civilisation under their kind rule. Every species was given the option to live in their new civilisation, no one would be forced and no more wars would be fought. Most accepted and settled, but the Vitani decided to retreat north into the jungles feeling that the Ursani were being naive and foolish, whilst the Merfolk retreated to the depths of the oceans to live in their own habitats. A small number of Ursani also migrated east into the mountains, taking up the nomadic ways of the monks now found there. All of these civilisations flourished seperately, with an uncertain peace ever present. To conserve this peace and isolation, they actually collaborated on one project; a giant pillar that would project an illusion of mist around the planet, making it undetectable to anyone who might come near...

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The relations between the different species of Strixborn is tenuous. The Ursani rule the majority of the land and it's species, acting as their leaders and protectors. The Merfolk are also are largely varied group of species that, whilst they see kinship in each other, consider themselves seperate from the land-dwellers and often distrusting of them. The Vitani on the other hand keep to their jungles in the north and forsake relations with most other species, except for the few renegade tribes who pillage Ursani borders and give the rest of their kind a bad reputation in the eyes of the Ursani Empire.
