Bhramaputra Prime

Bhramaputra Prime is a space nation colonized by settlers predominately from Myanmar and the Bengal region of India. Although almost destroyed by Shiva's Comet, Bhramaputra is rebuilding it steadily through the aid of its ally Deseret.

History

Once in system it did not take the colonial leaders long to notice Shiva's Comet and to recognize the threat it posed. However the fuel cells on board the Bhramaputran ships were running low, as well as food supplies, leaving the colonists without the option to find a new star system.

The decision was made to settle the planet as quickly as possible in the hopes of establishing the means to survive the eventual impact. Extensive bunker systems were established, and food stockpiled, all in preparation for the arrival of Shiva's Comet. The majority of colonists were never informed of Shiva's Comet or these preparations, the belief being that doing so would be disastrous for morale.

Shiva's Comet

On XXX DE Shiva's Comet finally made contact with the planet of Bhramaputra. The resulting shock-wave leveled ecosystems planet-wide and destroyed many of the towns and villages the colonists had built. Colony leadership quickly enacted draconian food and water rationing, but it was readily apparent to everyone that unless something changed and soon the colony would die out.

Relationship with Deseret

In XXX DE, roughly a year after Shiva's Comet the DDS Albatross arrived in system. Over the following years the Deseretis would temporarily accept nearly 100,000 refugees from Bhramaputra and would work hand in hand with the government of Bhramaputra to help rebuild their world.  Of the nearly 100,000 refugees, half would return home once situations on the planet had improved with the other half choosing to remain on Deseret and become citizens.  Relationships have only improved with time with trade and cultural exchange flowing relatively freely between them.
