New Haven

4409, September 14th

Created by

The fragile Gods have fled from their dying planes to a world they call New Haven where pasts can be sloughed off and lives begun anew. Humans are created, given instruction in the ways of worship, and guided to the land's corners with promises of peace for centuries to come.

But New Haven is already a place rich with the godless, intelligent Gauthra who resist the newcomers' presence with everything they have. Even the world itself, imbued with a slow sentience, defends itself from the human advance with its undynes, nymphs, and countless other Hekauthra.

When the Gauthra and the humans clash, the gods realize the difficulties they face in settling this world. Their plans gone awry, they turn against one another and that promised peace becomes millennia of strife. Humans are left to wander and follow their own faiths or delve into forbidden earthly magics and the Gauthra become tepid allies if not friends.
All the while, the natural cycles of New Haven slow and stutter as if bending under an immense weight...

Humans, Gauthra, Gods, and Hekkauthra

New Haven is a place rich with history and diversity. The Gauthra, including the Giant races, lived before the arrival of the Gods who gave rise to the The Newborn, also called humans. Allies of the Gauthra and enemies of the Gods, the Hekkauthra serve to protect the Earth from abuse and destruction and are a manifestation of a type of magic called Earth Impel.
Various species of Undyne, a typically waterborne Hekkauthra whose members range from benevolent spirits to vengeful swamp-witches.

The Mangagn (MAHN-gahng)

A Manatza word meaning "invisible change" and which encompasses the loose idea of "Magic." Divided into five main types, the forces of Mangagn have been used since time's beginning by the Gods, the Gauthra, and even people of other worlds. Only recently have humans began to understand its ways through the craft of Sorcery.
