Session 10: Beach Episode

General Summary

We open on a sparkling palace and beach:

Duke Viktor Harpaine is here hosting guests of the Wood Elves on his gorgeous island palace by The Azur . Its been 12 years since the Comet Impact in New Mystra  . Hoo is here with all their brothers and sisters. Francisco Presto is here with his wife Aurora, trying desperately to perfect their tribute music for the city of New Mystra. Frankie feels like something is off about this perfectly framed island, but brushes it off as his wife calls him in for Dinner. There the group has a marvelous and luxurious dinner. Kaja and Anton will be joining them later this evening hopefully. However throughout the dinner and afterwards, attendants keep remembering different and odd things about their time in New Mystra. After the dinner, everyone from the original group heard a powerful message from The Cadera of The Church of the Collective .

Citizens of New Mystra: I, The Cadera, speak to you now from within the wreckage of our great city. An act of selfish hatred took so much from us in an instant. Though many of our number are lost, we are still whole, and the Alliance is as strong as ever. I have brokered a peace with the forest to allow safe passage and supplies through. The forest shall claim a piece of you as you pass through, but all will be returned so long as you keep to the path. Leave the path, and the forest will not spare you. The strength and resources of the Alliance are ours again. Hold fast citizens, when you are strong, we all are. For the will of the people.

Some individuals hear and remember this, and others immediately forget or disregard that this message was projected into everyone's brains. As discussions further, folks begin to realize their memories of New Mystra are much more disconnected than they remember. Hoo attempts to stab themselves with a knife. It draws blood but no pain is felt. They attempt to run and leave the island. On the way out, Bhater the dwarf shoots himself to attempt to free himself from this prison. Viktor realizes this may be the work of his family Genie, as they were attempting to visit him next. Before he can speak out the Duke is yanked into the night sky by howling winds. The group gets on a rowboat and begins paddling as furiosly as they can. After 20ish minutes they realize they are out in a perfectly still nighttime ocean. With false memories in a false world, some of our heroes search for ways out and begin to kill themselves like Bhater did. They all find themselves shunted to a cozy inscense filled room featuring The Wayfarer , the patron of The Harpaine Family. He explains that the Harpaines have trapped him for 300 years in this ship, and only since Comet Impact in New Mystra  has the ship grown to life size. He is a patron for the family but is trapped, and desperately wants someone to help free him. He is concerned he will die permanently if the ship is destroyed while he is still bound to it. The Duke is brought into this conversation shortly after and begins tearing into the Djinni. He rallies the party and convinces them of all the pain and trauma this creature has brought to his family over the years. The Djinni is dissapointed, but unfortunately for him his domain only allows him to do things to individuals that they have agreed to. He allows them to leave his domain with a twisted grin on his face.

Meanwhile in a tropical cabin:

Anton Chooze , Kaja Petrov , and Nemira Chooze all have a lovely dinner in this tropical destination. As the dinner goes on Kaja in particular realizes something is VERY off but can't put her finger on it. Anton is doing a tarot reading for his mother that gives some questionable results (but actually reads The Wayfarer almost perfectly). Kaja then makes an excuse to go out back and do some Tarot reading of her own after hearing The Cadera 's message to everyone. Meanwhile Anton and his mom play some board games together and reminisce on the old times, seemingly both unaware of the oddity of the situation. However Anton remembers the Goblins, Justice Mountain , and the other horrific revlations about his uncle. Anton begins to spiral but goes out back first when Kaja calls him. Here, they realize what was missing, Po. Kaja is able to connect with Po again and they realize not much time has passed since they left the hospital. After more brainstorming and insight, they realize they mustve been sucked into the Djinni's domain. After confronting the world around them, Kaja and Anton are sucked into the room with the Wayfarer. The Wayfarer explains their friends are also in a perfect reality, and asks how they liked it. He then asked when they would reach their breaking points as humans. Would it be after a few weeks, a few months, or after hundreds of years? The Djinni used to be benevolent, but has become twisted in his imprisonment. The Wayfarer explains his horrible plight, and thankfully Anton and Kaja are more than happy to help him. This confirms what they know of the horrific Harpaine Family, and they go outside of the Djinni's domain to shatter the figurehead on the front of the ship. It takes a few hits, and they are joined by Bhater who also wants to help free the Djinni. They break off the statue, and it tumbles down the mountain of mansion debris, before exploding into mist. The Wafarer appears before these three, looking out over the ruins of the city. Before Kaja, Anton, and Bhate, The Wayfarer offers them each a wish as a token of his gratitude.
