The Occupation of Little Lockford

On (insert date here, happened a few months after the end of icewind dale campaign), the New Mystra Trading Authority lost contact with the town of Little Lockford, and important shipping hub in the Underdark. Word was received from evacuees that the town had been occupied by its former Head of Security, Tixie Tockworth. She had ordered her clockwork automatons, which were originally designed to protect the townspeople, to attack anyone they came across other than herself. What followed was a gruesome slaughter of innocent civilians, and the Mayor of Little Lockford chose to evacuate as many of her people as she could. To protect the public, the Underport was shut down for nearly 4 days while the PSA worked on planning an investigative mission, and information about what happened to Little Lockford was kept confidential. 
However, a small group of adventurers infiltrated the tunnels just days after contact was lost, eventually finding the evacuees in a large cavern system off the main tunnel to Little Lockford. The group of adventurers entered the town, somehow survived several attacks by the automatons, and confronted Tixie. In recent months, Tixie had become obsessed with turning herself into a construct. Several of her body parts had been replaced with metal mechanisms, including both arms and her torso. The adventurers killed Tixie Tockworth, slicing her body into several pieces, and destroyed the key to her fail safe device that was used to disable all of the automatons. The town militia was able to secure the town and the evacuees were allowed to return safely.
The adventurers disappeared almost as quickly as they arrived, and the PSA has not been able to track them down since. There is no current knowledge of who any of the party members were, or where they could be now. It is suspected that the group was sponsored by the Golden Vault, a terrorist organization that seeks to hinder the goals of the PSA and bring chaos to the city under the guise of the common good. This group has members in many cities all over the continent, but until now, the PSA has managed to keep them out of New Mystra. This incident, however favorable to the people of Little Lockford, was evidence of the ever reaching arms of the Golden Vault, which must be stopped at all costs. 
In the meantime, the PSA has managed to recover the body of Tixie Tockworth in order to study the advanced technology she had used to convert her own body parts into machines. While there are certainly ethical implications involved with this study, the potential benefits are far greater, including to the mining, construction, and military sectors of New Mystra. Research will continue on Tockworth's body in the safety of the PSA's most secure scientific facility.
