Resurgence of the Elves

At the time of the great awakening, as magic once again began to sweep through the land, small communities of Elves in the Forest of the Long Lived began to thrive. They have developed a small trading post, Portside, on the edge of the forest near the Gulf of Terrigan.
Many of the elders are ancient and have memories from the Era of the Long Lived when Elves ruled all the land. It was at the end of this time when the Altherion Empire sent conquerors into the forests, which covered most of the land including many parts of the region now known as the Twisting Desert. The Altherion Empire had one of their cities right on the edge of the forest. One night, when neither moon was out, the elves lured the town folk into the forest and performed magic on them turning them into Windigos - walking dead. The altered town folk returned to town and slaughtered everyone there.
