Imeshuka Dread Worm

Ulama Averroes (421). The Great Monstrosities of The Mortal Plane.
"We were about an hour north of the dried out diamond mine. When about a quarter-mile away towards the front of the army some kind of eruption goes off and dozens of soldiers go flying in the air, some upwards of 5-6 floors. The was so much noise from the chaos that I couldn't hear the commander next to me give orders. Then maybe 20 paces away this huge, demonic snake thing breaks through the sand sends hot molten glass all over. It's roar sound more like that of a woman's scream than that of a demonic beast. It swallowed the commander and his camel whole, right next to me. Everyone was running for their own life..."
Captian Enitan in his verbal report noted by a court scribe, 207

Basic Information

Anatomy

This extraordinary beast is not done justice by common folks exaggerations through local gossip, as each time the tale is told they make the monster bigger, scarier, and more detached from life, but this is expected from the less educated. Although large, colossal size is not the most interesting aspect of this specimen. Not to fully discredit the townies, my estimates have this creature at 80 feet long, with a 5-foot diameter, and weighing in at 20 tons. The length and weight come from estimations based on known similar beasts, but the width is proven via tunnels through the stone that it leaves behind. Many tunnels in the sand quickly collapse under pressure, but deep underground, near The Ancient Imeshuka Temple of Nanus, limestone tunnels connected to the temple's lower levels, have been linked to this creature. Within this tunnel fecal matter has been found and tested, with very unique results. Its digestive system, rather than using an acid like all other know living things, breaks down the bodies like a fungus, rotting the body. Many undead creatures harm prey in this way usually called necrotic. Its exoskeleton has heat absorption abilities, this causing the come tunnels near the surface to have glass if they withstand the weight of the sand. According to many a soldier's account after the encounter in 419, weapons metal upon striking the beast and arrows turn to ash.

Ecology and Habitats

Only one such beast is known, and it inhabits the southern Imeshuka Desert.

Dietary Needs and Habits

This creature seems to always feast whenever it can, and never grows weak without eating for months at a time. The two leading dietary theories are that it either can store food elsewhere in its body until needed, similar to that of a camel with water, or it travels to the Underdark when it cannot find food on the surface. I only recently have been able to study this creature closely, so I intend to closely track its diet over the next few years.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Like most subterranean monsters, it in all likelihood uses a form of tremor-sense. The ability to pick up small vibrations through the earth in order to hunt its prey. Also, the beast has four eyes upon its head, but it is unknown how well it's visual acuity is or if it poses any special sensors capabilities.
