Imperial Intelligence Bureau

The Imperial Intelligence Bureau is the primary intelligence agency serving the Acaronian Empire. As the largest entity within the Ministry of Intelligence, it reports directly to the Minister of Intelligence. Operating covertly, agents of Imperial Intelligence excel in manipulation, subterfuge, intimidation, sabotage, and assassination, proving just as lethal as their Draethar Overlords.

Structure

Official designations were limited to speakers of Human and Acaronian dialects; those who did not speak these languages were employed in versatile roles. The real names of Spectres, Artificers, Overseers, and Custodians were classified, with agents known only by their titles and a numerical identifier (e.g., Spectre XXV, Artificer VI, Custodian II, Overseer XI). It is important to note that these numbers did not signify rank or seniority; they were merely used to distinguish between individuals with the same title.
The organizational structure is as follows:
Gatherers: Spies, scouts, and informants who collected information and relayed it back to the headquarters. They were often assigned to a fixed position from which they seldom moved.
Spectres: Skilled in assassination, seduction, manipulation, blackmail, subversion, subterfuge, infiltration, and sabotage, Spectres serve as field agents and the primary assault force of Intelligence. They are proficient with poisons, rifles, and various gadgets.
Custodian: Intelligence processors who receive information from Spectres and anticipate enemy movements. Overseers also serve as internal security, scrutinizing the Intelligence agency for vulnerabilities and addressing any breaches.
Artificer: Technical agents skilled in slicing, engineering, and biomechanics. They process and make sense of technical data, such as datapads and bioscans, gathered by Spectres.
Overseer: Agents who recover, process, and analyze data, then relay their findings back to the Ciphers. Overseer report directly to the Spymaster.
Spymaster: The operational leader of Imperial Intelligence. The Spymaster devises major strategies, issues orders to operatives, and is privy to all of the Empire’s and Intelligence's secrets.
Minister of Intelligence: The highest authority within the Intelligence agency, responsible for the bureaucratic and technical aspects of its operation. The Minister reports directly to the Draethar's Ebon Regnorum, holding the highest position a non-Draethar can achieve in the Empire.

History

In the days following the Acaronian exodus in the aftermath of the Liberation Crusades, abandoning such holdings like the planets of Thalos and Acaron, the Acaronian Empire reorganized into a new government on the planet of Noxterran. At that time, a new governmental structure was established, consisting of various ministries and bureaucracies, one of such being the Imperial Intelligence Bureau. The organization was a major asset to the Empire by the 2200 AL, sending various undercover operatives into Alliance and Graxxid space to help stage outbursts of war, violence, political instability and sedition among certain species, as a means to serve the Acaronian Emperor’s plans to return to the Alliance. Prior to the signing of the Verdant Concordat in 2637 AL, this division of the Acaronian Empire was responsible for blocking the Alliance’s attempt at gaining allies amongst the Graxxid. Intelligence operatives were also responsible for the Draylan Warlord, Rhaan the Bloody's rise to power. They helped him gain victory and success in the Gladiatorial pits on Sanguinex by intimidation and even poisoning of his opponents, giving him an unfair advantage. Through their behind-the-scenes manipulations, they twisted audience perceptions until they were calling him the new Warlord. They used him to rally the scattered Jarnskr clans that still harbored hostility against the Alliance, injecting in them their New Way of adopting other species.   At some unknown point, Imperial Intelligence learned that the Galactic Alliance operated a prison fleet of dreadnoughts known as "the tombstones." Thus, they began attempts at uncovering the location of this super prison and later succeeded in staging a raid against the armada in order to free any Draethar prisoners within the ships.
During the Second Cold War, Intelligence dispatched a talented agent to Graxus to infiltrate Y’ordha ‘Ma’cafim's organization, under the alias of the infamous pirate known as the Shadow Marauder. The goal was to motivate Y’ordha and his lieutenants to support the Empire. The agent succeeded and was called back to Thalos to deal with a rising terrorist movement.
